I have been searching for months to find Route 66 dishes. What I would really like is some kind of dish set with the Route 66 Sheild or Get your kicks something like that. Since I am having issues finding these I would also settle on some cool retro diner, or 50's style dish set. However I do not want plain white or checkered that is took normal. Do you know of any sites that sell retro dishes? I have tried ebay, Amazon, yahoo/msn shopping, overstock and so on. I have also looked in flea markets, antique malls and garage estate sales. I am starting to think I should just give up. Any ideas????? Thank you so much for your help!!!!!

Ahh, I like!

Also look for Fiesta Ware , you may like that. Very retro, has not changed. If you buy old dishes watch out for certain glaze colors (look online for info) as some colors contained lead and are not recommended for use. But they haven't changed and they are cool looking. Reasonably priced too.
Check truck stops, Stuckeys, funky places off the highway.
I have a set of route 66 luggage, lol. I got one piece in Chinatown in New York and I got the other piece at a lot-sale store in Misissippi called Hudsons. I once saw a sofa in a Sears with that Route 66 roadsign theme and stupidly did not buy it. I have kicked myself ever since.
Look in restaurant supply places and thrift shops for diner mugs and cups. The old standards can be found. Maybe their supply houses have websites.

For the dishes try a restaurant supply store in your area. Don't think the stuff they have will be cheap, it won't but it will be very durable and if you want diner style, guess where the diners buy their dishes.
p.s. did you know they make Route 66 wallpaper and border?
Good Luck!

Send an email to the Food Network. http://www.foodnetwork.com. They may have sources that know. They have a tv show called Drive-Ins, Diners and Dives, so maybe the producers of that show would be able to help.
