Take the Loop 101 north to I-17 North. Flagstaff is 136 miles north of Phoenix.

I assume that you’re not familiar with Scottsdale, so this is the easiset, if not the fastest way.

Scottsdale Road is the main North-South "drag" in the city and intersects every East-West road.

Anyway, find Scottsdale Road and go North (towards the Mountains). Follow this road about 12 miles from downtown and it will intersect the Loop 101 Freeway. Get on the Freeway westbound and after about 13 miles you will come across I-17. Get on I-17 northbound (the sign actually has "Flagstaff" on it and in about 2 1/2 hours you’ll arrive in Flagstaff.

Be prepared for different weather. Phoenix is desrt at 1200 feet. Flagstaff is mountainous at 7000 feet.
