I have to drive from San Bernardino, California to Bullhead City, Arizona next week. I’m not from the area. Is there anything to see along the way? Any places worth stopping for? Thanks.

Lenwood Outlet Malls in Barstow is about the only thing worth stopping for.

Calico Ghost Town is also nearby, but not THAT interesting.

In Barstow, right by the Lenwood Outlets, there are a BUNCH of fast food places. That’s where you want to stop and eat.

And Laughlin, NV is right across the river from Bullhead. Casinos, etc. if you like that.

Song had a pop/R&B style, I remember hearing it on Tucson,Az pop station circa 1988. I distinctly remember horn section portion similar to that of ‘Darlin’ I ‘ by Vanessa Williams

That sounds like "Spellbound" from Paula Abdul.

The highest temperature recorded in bullhead city az is 122F (50C). With an july average high of 112F (44C)
THATS HOT.
Although neighbouring Laughlin,nv across the colorado river has had 125F (52C)

I think I may start Forte against AZ but I’m at a loss as to the second RB: Ricky Williams, Kevin Smith or Ryan Moats. Thanks for any suggestions.

You’re pretty much obligated to start Forte, as for your second, Ricky Williams. The Patriots haven’t been too good against the run this season. Look at what Chris Johnson did to them despite losing 59-0. Jarvis Green is out for the game which should create some big holes for the Wildcat. Kevin Smith is questionable and probably won’t do anything special. Who knows of Moats even plays as much as last week. I still believe that Slaton is the team’s running back despite his slow performance.

I got a Job in a company. They told me to decide wither to choose Aspen or Flagstaff. Also, while I will be working in the company I have to take some courses in the college. Therefore, which is better?

The university of Northern Arizona is in Flagstaff, I am unaware of any colleges in Aspen, so if you need to take a college course, Flagstaff is your pick

who to start for 2nd RB?

Posted by: admin   in Kingman Communities

already startng michael turner on monday night. who should i start for my 2nd back? deangelo williams @ AZ or Pierre Thomas vs ATL?

Thomas has to share time with Mike Bell. I would go with DeAngelo.

Good luck.

How long to get a package totally depends on how it was sent and with which company. Post office, UPS, FedEx? Ground, Priority, etc?

There’s not much to do in Laughlin and the temperature is even higher than in Vegas. You can make a side trip to Lake Havasu City, AZ to see the bridge, but it’s not the spectacular bridge, which is still in England. It’s a very plain arched bridge. You may want to look for a photo on Google Images.

I read a review of the Super-8 in Williams,AZ that by someone that said they had made a reservation using Priceline. When they got there the manager refused to honor the priceline price and charged them a lot more. What if this happens? Are you screwed? Is there a way to use Priceline and make sure the Hotel will accept the price before booking?

If you booked a hotel using Priceline and they refuse to honor it the hotel is then in violation of the contract they signed with Priceline.

Of course, that might be small consolation as you face the prospect on a night with no hotel room.

Here’s what I would do (before) I left on vacation.

a) Print out a written confirmation of the reservation. Make sure you have the confirmation code, the date, the hotel address, and most importantly the rate. In most cases this should do the trick when you show it to the check in clerk.

b) If they still refuse to honor upon arrival ask them specifically why they are refusing to honor. Then call the toll free Priceline number. Tell them about the situation. As your online travel agency they will be on your side. Have them "fight it out" with Super 8′s front desk over the phone.

c) If you are still stuck, ask to speak with the Regional Manager or the corporate office of Super 8. You can try the 1-800 # as well for Super 8, but in my experience asking for the CORPORATE OFFICE gets much better results. Mention that you believe Super 8 is in breach of contract for not honoring a valid reservation and get everyone’s name and position that you speak to. You can mention that you will referring the situation to a newspaper Travel Columnist if you cannot reach a resolution. (The last thing any company needs is bad press either in print or online).

Whatever you do, DO NOT threaten or make any mention of suing or a lawsuit. Most companies at that point will refuse (and have the right) to stop dealing with you, because it becomes a legal matter instead of a customer service matter. Your goal is to get a room for the night at the agreed upon rate. Not to take them to court.

That should take care of things. Enjoy your room!

How long would it take to drive Route 66 nonstop?

Posted by: admin   in Route 66

In an effort to avoid the Rocky Mountains in December, I am looking at driving route 66 straight through (2 adult drivers, car stopping only for fuel.) Could it be done in 2-2.5 days? I would be on it from Chicago to Los Angeles. Other route ideas are also welcome.

You are over-estimating the problems with the Rockies and severely under -estimating the problems with crossing the big empty spaces of the Great Plains in winter
The stretch of I-70 that you have devoted two questions to is about 200 miles and 5 hours
Once you get west of Grand Junction CO on I-70 then really crappy winter weather ceases to be a major issue
From Soldier Field in Chicago there are 4 ways to do this trip and Yes I have driven them all under winter conditions
1) Lake Shore Drive >I-55 S >>I-94 E [Dan Ryan } I-57 S>I-55 S >I40 W>I-15S
Assuming that you leave Chicago in good weather then the weather on that stretch starts getting funky around OKC >Possibily of snow from St Charles NM to ABQ
and then more snow possible from Winslow to Ashfork AZ >West of Ashfork you lose the weather and start hauling ashes into LA >allow 2.-2.5 days
This is your best bad weather option

2) LSD >I-55S>I-44W >I-40 W >I-15 S
This is your Rt 66 option and you already know where the weather is .Try not to hit STL during rush hour
3)LSD>I-55S >I-80 W>I-76 W>I-70 W >I-15S
This is your dreaded crossing of the Rockies at high altitude via the Eisenhower Tunnel
If the weather is crap then Des Moines to Denver and especially Grand Island NE to Denver can be a cold and lonely stretch of road
4)If the weather is good across the Plains then this is the fastest way to do it
LSD>I-55S >I-80 W >I-15S
You have low altitude crossing of the Continental Divide in WY and the only really nasty stretch is from I-80 at the WY/UT line downhill thru Echo Canyon to I-15 S
In all cases carry chains and whatever you need to safely spend a night sleeping in your vehicle
